FIG NUT SQUARES 
2 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. finely cut dried figs
1 c. chopped nuts

Beat eggs until foamy. Beat in sugar and vanilla. Combine dry ingredients; stir into egg mixture. Add figs and nuts (2 cups finely cut dates may be used in place of the figs); spread in a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Yield: 2 dozen.
