MEXICAN MESS 
1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
Taco seasoning pkg.
1/2 c. chopped onions
4 c. shredded lettuce
1 c. chopped tomatoes
Salt, pepper, chili powder
1 c. cheddar cheese
16 crisp tortillas
1 c. water
Taco sauce or salsa

Brown ground beef with onion. Add salt, pepper, and chili powder to taste. Add taco seasoning and water as directed on package.

Layer halved tortilla shells and beef mixture in a greased 9x12 cake pan. Pour water over entire mixture in pan. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Sprinkle shredded cheese over top and return to oven until cheese melts.

Place a serving of lettuce on dinner plate; top with a portion of baked mixture, more shredded cheese, and tomatoes. Add taco sauce or salsa as desired. Yield 4-6 servings depending on appetite.
