OTTO'S ONION DISH | |
3 lg. onions, peeled and thinly sliced (3 c.) 3 tbsp. butter 1 (10-inch) pie shell, partially baked (10 minutes) 1 c. milk, divided 1 c. cottage cheese 1 c. dairy sour cream 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. seasoned pepper 3 eggs, beaten 1 tbsp. flour 1/3 c. grated Cheddar cheese Cooked bacon or ham (optional) slice bacon small pieces, fry crisp Simmer onions until soft in hot butter. Turn into baked pie shell. Combine 3/4 cup milk, cottage cheese, sour cream, salt, pepper and eggs; mix well. Blend remaining 1/4 cup milk with flour, stir into sour cream mixture. Mix well; pour over onions in pie shell. Sprinkle with grated cheese. Bake at 325 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Pie should be firm, in center. Garnish with crisp bacon or slivers of cooked ham. Makes 8 servings. |
