JIFFY APPLE SCOTCH SQUARES 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. light brown sugar
1 c. white sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. lemon or orange juice
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. chopped apples
1 egg
1/2 c. walnuts

In 2 quart pan melt butter. Remove from stove. Add sugars and stir. Add flour, baking powder and salt and stir until all is crumbly. Add vanilla, juice and egg. Blend well, add chopped apples and nuts. Put 7 x 11 x 1 1/2 inch greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Should be moist like brownies.
