CARAMEL BREAD PUDDING | |
2 tbsp. butter 1 1/2 c. brown sugar 6 slices white bread, cut into 1/2 inch cubes 6 eggs 13 fl. oz. evaporated milk 1/3 c. water 1 tsp. vanilla 1/8 tsp. salt Generously butter shallow 1 1/2 quart casserole. Dot bottom with remaining butter. Sprinkle 1 cup brown sugar over bottom. Top with bread cubes. Beat eggs with wire whisk. Stir in 1/2 cup brown sugar, evaporated milk, water, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread cubes (do not stir). Place casserole in larger pan. Pour hot water into pan 1 inch deep. Bake in 300 degree preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes out clean. Serve hot or cold. Makes 6 to 8 servings. |
