BEEF BURGUNDY | |
1 1/2 lbs. stew beef, cut small 1 can beef consomme 1/2 c. dry red wine 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/4 tsp. thyme 1 1/2 tbsp. flour 3/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. sliced onions 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced Brown stew beef in frying pan and add pepper and thyme. When browned, put in casserole. Add flour, salt, consomme and pour over meat and add 1/2 cup dry red wine. Bake, covered 2 hours at 325 degrees. Then add mushrooms and 1/4 cup onions. Bake 1 hour more. Serve over rice or noodles. (To make more, use 2 cans consomme and 1 cup wine and more meat.) Great company dinner. Make early in day and warm. |
