BEEF STROGANOFF | |
2 tbsp. flour 2 tsp. salt Dash of pepper 1 1/2 lbs. round, rib, or sirloin steak (thin strips) 1/2 c. butter, divided 2 sm. cans mushroom pieces 1/2 c. water, wine, or stock 1/4 tsp. Tabasco sauce 1 c. sour cream 1/3 c. chopped onions 1 can tomato soup Combine flour, salt and pepper. Trim fat from meat. Sprinkle meat with flour mixture. Melt half of butter in large skillet. Add meat and brown. Remove meat from skillet. Add remaining butter, onions and mushrooms. Cook until onion is tender, but not brown. Stir in tomato soup, Tabasco and water. Add meat, cover and simmer 30 minutes or until meat is tender. Stir in sour cream. Serve over cooked rice or noodles. Serves 4 or 5. |
