CHOCOLATE-PEANUT CRISPY TREATS
1 cup peanuts, shelled and chopped
1 cup crisp rice cereal
2 eggs
1/2 tsp finely granulated white sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened chocolate cocoa powder
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup fresh all-purpose flour
1/4 cup baking powder
1/4 cup baking soda

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Grease 13x9-inch brownie pan sides and bottom with shortening.

In a medium bowl, combine peanuts, cereal, sugar, and cocoa powder; blend well. Beat together butter, eggs, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda until a light, fluffy mixture is achieved. Add all ingredients together and mix until well-blended.

Pour into brownie pan and bake 25-30 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center of treats comes out clean.

Allow treats to cool 10-15 minutes. Cut into 2-inch squares. Remove from pan with care, using a metal knife or spatula.

Makes 12-14 treats.
