CHILI CON CARNE 
2 tbsp. vegetable or olive oil
1 lb. ground beef
2 lg. onions, chopped
1 clove garlic or garlic powder to taste
1 (2 lb.) can stewed tomatoes
1 (2 lb.) can hot chili beans
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. chili powder
Ground cumin to taste

Cook beef in oil until brown, drain off fat. Add onions and garlic, brown lightly, discard garlic. Stir in tomatoes, beans and salt. Add chili powder and cumin. Cook slowly, stirring occasionally, for about 1 hour.
