NEVER FAIL SYRUP 
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white syrup
1 c. water
Pinch of salt
Maple flavoring

Stir together sugars, syrup, water and salt in a saucepan and slowly bring to a boil stirring occasionally; let boil 5 minutes. Add maple flavoring to taste. Makes a little over a pint. (It will keep indefinitely without turning to sugar.) Add a little butter if you so desire.
