4 potatoes 1/2 lb. sliced beef 1 onion, thinly sliced 1 carrot, cut into 1/2 inch cubes 10 snow peas 3 c. Dashi (fish broth) 1/2 c. Sake 3 tbsp. sugar 1/8 c. Mirin (sweet rice wine) 1/3 c. soy sauce 2 tsp. butter 1. Cut potatoes into 8 pieces and soak in water. 2. Heat butter in thick pan. Saute beef until brown. Add potatoes and saute. 3. Add onion and carrot. Saute until onion becomes transparent. 4. Add Dashi and Sake and cook over moderate heat until potatoes are softened. 5. Add sugar and Mirin. Cook 10 minutes. 6. Add soy sauce and cook until sauce is gone. 7. Serve in a bowl garnished with boiled peas. 4 servings. |
