BOILED CAKE 
1 c. cold water
1 c. raisins
1 c. golden raisins
1/2 c. cherries
1/2 c. walnuts
2 eggs, beaten
1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. spice

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare and line an 8 inch cake tin. Boil fruit with sugar and water for 5 minutes. Add butter. Cool slightly, then stir in flour sifted with soda and spice. Add eggs. Turn into prepared tin and bake about 1 1/2 hours, or until fully cooked after testing in the middle with a skewer which should come out clean. Cuts well.
