BAKED STEAK PATTIES
1 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. pork sausage meat
2 c. cooked white rice
1 egg
6 bacon slices
1 (1 3/4 oz.) pkg. dry onion soup mix
3 c. water
2 tbsp. flour

Combine ground beef, sausage, rice, and egg. Shape to form 6 patties. Wrap each with a bacon slice; secure with wooden pick. Place in a 7x11 inch baking dish. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes; drain off excess fat.

Meanwhile, combine soup mix and 2 1/2 cups water in a saucepan. Cook, covered, 10 minutes. Mix the remaining 1/2 cup water and flour until smooth. Gradually add to soup mixture, stirring until thickened. Pour over steak patties and bake an additional 20 minutes. Remove picks before serving. 6 servings.

NOTE: the gravy may be served with the steak patties or covered and refrigerated. Reheat and serve with mashed potatoes at the next evening's meal.
