ORANGE JUICE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
1 c. milk
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. boiling water
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. baking soda
Grated rind from 1 orange

GLAZE:

Juice of 1 orange
2/3 c. sugar

Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs. Stir in milk alternately with sifted dry ingredients. Mix together chopped dates and 1 cup boiling water; add orange rind and nuts. Cool mixture and add to creamed mixture. Bake in a greased and floured 9x13 inch cake pan for 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees.

Mix together the orange juice and sugar. Remove cake from oven and pour over hot cake.
