SHAGGY DOGS 
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. chopped dates
2 well beaten eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts
2 c. Rice Krispies
1 can coconut

Combine sugar, dates and eggs in a heavy pot. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it pulls away from sides of pot, 6-7 minutes. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and nuts. Carefully fold in Rice Krispies. Cool slightly. Moisten hands with ice cold water. Shape mixture into small balls. Roll each ball in coconut. Chill. Yield about 4 dozen.
