My mama used to make these but when I asked for her recipe she couldn't remember all the ingredients. I've tried and tried to duplicate but didn't come close until I tried this recipe. This is it! I love these. Mama would put a little applesauce over them rather than syrup. Thank you so much for this wonderful recipe.

My mother made sour milk pancakes. They were very thin like crepes, but not crepes. The ingredients were 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 tbsp. sugar, 1/4 tsp. baking soda, 2 cups buttermilk, 1 cup flour and 1 egg. If she did not have buttermilk she put lemon juice or vinegar in regular whole milk and this soured the milk. These were my dad's favorite pancakes. He put butter and syrup on them, homemade apple butter, if available and topped that off with one or two over easy eggs. Yum, yum! If there were any pancakes left, mom would put apple butter on top of the pancake, role up the pancake and put them in dad's lunch bucket to take to the field with him.
