“SUMMER FRUIT SPRITZER AND SLUSHIES” IS IN:

SUMMER FRUIT SPRITZER AND
SLUSHIES

1 cup orange, tangerine or other fruit juice
honey, to taste (optional)
1 cup sparkling mineral water
1 cup crushed ice

In a blender, food processor or juicer, add enough fresh fruit to make 1 cup (or make more and store in refrigerator). Cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, orange, tangerine, grapefruit, peaches, nectarines, are all great choices.

Canned fruit nectars such as pineapple, mango, peach, apricot, pear, etc. may also be used. If you like a sweeter drink, add a teaspoon or so of honey, but it's usually not needed.

Stir with mineral water and pour over crushed ice. A few drops of freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice or a few drops of citrus oil can brighten the flavor.

To make a slushy, add the crushed ice and mineral water directly to the blender and process until smooth. Adding a partially frozen banana will make a creamier slushy.

To make freezer slushy, use grapefruit juice and freeze in plastic bottles. Shake bottles up once every 45 minutes until ready to use. Tip: Disposable plastic water bottles are good to use because you will be able to squeeze the slush to break it up.

Grapefruit juice can be used straight without adding water.

Tried the grapefruit slush. Quite refreshing with all this hot weather. Recommended. Thumbs up.

The grapefruit slush in the freezer is nice. It saves on not having to wash the blender out, too.
