SOUR MILK BANANA BREAD 
1 1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. melted shortening
4 tbsp. buttermilk or clabber milk (1/4 tsp. vinegar to 4 tbsp. sweet milk)
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 to 1 c. nuts
1 c. mashed bananas

Add sugar to melted shortening and beat until it cools a little. Add eggs well beaten. Add buttermilk, then bananas. Sift flour, soda, and salt. Add to buttermilk mixture. Add nuts. Bake in loaf pan. Do not flour or grease pan.

Large loaf pan: Bake at 350 degrees approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Small loaves (4) : Reduce time (35 to 40 minutes). Keeps like a fruit cake.
