RICH CORN BREAD | |
3/4 cup yellow corn meal 1 cup flour 1/3 cup sugar 3/4 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 2 teaspoons cream of tartar or Bakewell Cream 1 egg, well beaten 1 cup sour cream, yogurt or buttermilk 1 cup milk 2 tablespoons butter or shortening, melted Preheat oven to 425°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan. In a mixing bowl, stir together the dry ingredients until well combined. Beat the egg; combine with remaining liquids and melted shortening. Stir gradually into dry mixture. Bake for 20 minutes or until lightly golden brown on top. Submitted by: CM |
