SOUR MILK COFFEE CAKE 
2 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. salad oil
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix well the flour, sugars, salt, nutmeg and oil. Set aside 3/4 cup of this mixture for topping. Add egg, soda, buttermilk and baking powder to the remaining mixture and pour into a greased 9x13 pan and sprinkle the following mixture over the top. 1 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 c. reserved mixture

Bake 350 degrees, 30-35 minutes. Test with toothpick.

I made this because I had some soured milk I wanted to use up. I worried when I put it in the 9 x 13 inch pan because the batter was barely was a half inch deep in the pan. But because there was a full teaspoon of baking soda and baking powder, it rose very nicely. The only changes I made were I used 1 tsp of Penzey's "Baking Spice" instead of the nutmeg and i folded in 3/4 of a cup of chocolate chips. Excellent results - a real crowd pleaser - I will definitely make this again.

Easy to make. Tried the original first.
Second time I used a little vanilla extract because it's a flavor I like. Also, I added the cinnamon and nuts to the dry ingredients at once then reserved the crumble. Quite good!
