SOUR MILK CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1/2 c. cocoa, melted in 1/2 c. boiling water
2 1/2 c. flour, sifted
1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda, mixed with hot water
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Pinch of salt

Mix all together. Bake in loaf pan at 325 degrees for 1/2 hour, then at 350 degrees until done. Bake in layer pan at 300 to 325 degrees. It takes about 35 to 45 minutes to bake this cake.
