OLD FASHIONED POUND CAKE | |
3 c. all purpose flour (sifted) 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1 c. butter (softened) 1/2 c. shortening (softened) 3 c. sugar 5 eggs 1 1/4 c. milk 1 tbsp. vanilla Sift flour, baking powder and salt together; set aside. Lightly grease and flour a 10 inch tube pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl beat butter, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy; about 5 minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Slowly beat in flour mixture, in four additions, alternating with milk, in 3 additions, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Add vanilla. Turn batter into prepared pan. Bake 1 hour 15 to 20 minutes or until tested done. Let cool in pan on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on rack. |
