BEGINNERS LUCK BREAD | |
2 c. milk 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. sugar or honey 6 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 1 pkg. yeast Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm milk. Heat balance of milk to scalding, add butter and sugar and let cool to lukewarm. Add milk to yeast mixture. Add egg and salt. Sift in flour and mix thoroughly after each addition until smooth. Knead for at least 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a towel and set in a warm place, away from drafts, until it has risen double in bulk. Cut down and shape into loaves, approximately 3 and let rise again. Bake in a 375 degree oven for about 50 minutes. |
