MOM'S (FLOSSIE OTTEN) CHOCOLATE
PIE
 
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. flour
Pinch of salt
2 c. milk
2 egg yolks (save white for meringue)
2 tsp. vanilla

Makes one pie or double for two.

Mix sugar, cocoa, flour - add milk and beaten egg yolks. Cook in double boiler until thick. Add vanilla and pinch of salt. Cool and pour into baked pie shell. Top with meringue. Bake until light brown.

MERINGUE FOR ONE PIE:

2 egg whites (room temperature)
1/4 tsp. cream tartar
1/4 c. sugar

Beat egg whites with cream tartar until they hold peak. Gradually beat in sugar until firm peaks.

Bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 1 pie (double for 2).
