1/2 c. soft butter
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. flour
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 c. or more sliced apples
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2/3 c. sugar

Beat first 3 ingredients well with mixer gradually add flour until mixture forms soft dough. Press into 9 inch pie pan. Beat together cream cheese and 1/4 cup sugar. Add egg and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until smooth. Spread evenly over cream.

Combine final 3 ingredients and place evenly over cream cheese mixture. Dot with butter and sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Lower heat to 350 degrees and bake additional 30 minutes.
