OATMEAL CAKE 
1 1/2 c. quick oats
1 1/2 sticks butter
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. white sugar
3 well-beaten eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. salt

Topping:

1/2 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. evaporated milk

Pour 2 c. boiling water over 1 1/2 c. quick oats. Let stand 20 mins. Cream: 1 1/2 sticks butter, 1 1/2 c. brown sugar and 1 1/2 c. white sugar. Mix with oatmeal mixture.

Bake in large pan at 350°F for 45 mins.

Topping: Mix together & spread on top of cake. Put under broiler to brown lightly.
