APPLE DAPPLE CAKE 
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 1/3 c. cooking oil
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. apples, chopped
1 c. nuts

Mix ingredients thoroughly, folding in apples and nuts last. Turn into greased and floured pan (9 x 13 inches). Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Cool, cut into squares.

APPLE DAPPLE CAKE GLAZE:

1/2 stick butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. light brown sugar
2 tbsp. milk

Combine all ingredients into a boiler. Boil for 1 minute. Spread on hot cake.

If you like the texture of a good carrot cake, you'll enjoy this apple cake! Very similar. I only used a bit less sugar (1.5 cups) in the cake and added about 2 tablespoons of applesauce. Also added cinnamon and nutmeg. Great cake!! If you grease the pan well it shouldn't have any issues coming out cleanly. Doesn't crumble very much either. I really like this recipe I just hope it lasts long enough to share with friends. Very good served warm.

I can't comment on the icing, I used a different recipe because I didn't have brown sugar on hand.
