1 c. shortening
1 c. peanut butter
1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped salted peanuts

Cream first 4 ingredients; beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir together flour, soda and 1/4 teaspoon salt; blend into batter. Stir in nuts. Form into 1-inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly with fingers.

Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes.

Makes 6 dozen.
