MOLASSES COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
2-4 c. plain flour
1 c. sour milk
1 tbsp. vinegar

Cream shortening and sugar. Add molasses. Sift 2 cups of flour with other dry ingredients and alternately to first mixture with the sour milk and vinegar. Add enough flour to make soft dough. Roll out and cut. Sprinkle sugar on top. Bake 5 to 8 minutes in rather quick oven, 375 to 400 degrees.
