GERMAN CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES
1 (4 oz.) pkg. sweet cooking chocolate
5 tbsp. butter, divided
1 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/ tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Melt chocolate and 3 tablespoons butter over low heat, stirring frequently; set aside to cool. Soften remaining 2 tablespoons butter. Add cream cheese, creaming until light. Gradually add 1/4 cup sugar, beating until fluffy. Stir in 1 egg, 1 tablespoon flour, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Set aside.

Beat 2 eggs until light-yellow colored. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar, beating, until thick. Combine 1/2 cup flour, baking powder, and salt; add to egg mixture, mixing well. Stir in cooled chocolate, 1 teaspoon vanilla, almond extract, and nuts.

Pour half of chocolate batter into a greased 8-inch pan. Spread with cheese mixture; top with remaining chocolate batter. Cut through mixture in pan with a knife to create a marbled effect. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool; cut into 16 (2-inch) squares. Yield: 16 brownies.
