SPLIT PEA SOUP 
1 ham bone
2 qt. water
2 c. split peas
1 onion, diced
1 bay leaf
2 sprigs parsley
1/4 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. marjoram
Dash cayenne pepper
4 carrots, med. size, diced
2 stalks celery, chopped

Combine ham bone, water, split peas, onion and seasonings. Simmer for 2 hours. Add carrots and celery. Simmer for 30 minutes. Remove ham bone from soup and cut meat from bone. Return meat to soup. Serve hot.
