SPICED NUTS 
2 sticks butter
4 c. walnut or pecan halves
3 c. 10x sugar
2 tbsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. ground cloves
2 tbsp. nutmeg

In a deep heavy skillet, melt the butter and stir in the nuts. Cook the nuts over low heat, stirring frequently for about 20 minutes or until nuts are heated through and lightly browned.

Into a brown paper bag, sift the confectioners sugar, cinnamon, ground cloves and nutmeg. Remove nuts from the skillet with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels. Add the nuts to the spiced sugar mixture and toss them until they are generously coated. Turn the nuts into a colander or sieve and shake them gently to remove the excess sugar. Spread nuts on a paper towel to cool.
