VALENTINE SALAD 
2 c. hot water
2 pkg. lemon Jello
1 (about 6 oz.) pkg. red hots
2 c. applesauce
1 (8 oz.) cream cheese
1/2 c. chopped celery
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. salad dressing

Dissolve red hots in hot water. Add Jello and stir until dissolved. Add applesauce. Pour 1/2 Jello mixture into mold. Allow to set. Make filling with 1 (8 ounce) cream cheese, celery, chopped nuts and 1/2 cup salad dressing. Spread filling over Jello which has set. Pour remaining Jello over filling. Refrigerate until completely set. Unmold. This is nice to serve at Christmas as well as Valentine's Day.

I have been making this since I was a little girl (40 years)... took the long route and stirred red hots until they dissolved (took forever) and as an adult have taken a short cut... I forgot about apple sauce and celery and salad dressing... I'm going to try it this way... not sure about what kind of salad dressing though?!
