JAM COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 2/3 c. flour
1/4 c. milk

Blend sugar, shortening, salt, and vanilla. Add egg, flour, and milk, then mix. Drop by teaspoon on cookie sheet. Make small indentations with a wet spoon or thimble. Drop small amount of jam or jelly in hole. Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
