GRANDMA'S GUMDROP CAKE 
2 c. powdered sugar
2 c. raisins
2 c. hot water
1 c. lard
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. salt
1 c. walnuts
1 1/2 c. gumdrops
Sm. bottle cherries
2 eggs, well beaten

Sift well:

3 1/2 - 4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder

Cook 5 minutes and cool first 8 ingredients. Take out juice from cherries to make the 2 cups hot water. Mix together. Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 1 hour. (Line pan with brown paper and grease to prevent sticking.)

This bread/cake has always been part of our Christmas tradition and is only made at Christmas time for the holiday season.
