POPPY SEED CAKE 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 tbsp. poppy seed, soaked in 1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted cake flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3 egg whites, beaten stiff, fold in last

OR:
1 white cake mix, using milk as directed liquid
1/4 c. poppy seed, soaked in milk
5 egg whites, folded in last
Oil as directed

Use a 9 x 13 inch cake pan.

FILLING FOR POPPY SEED CAKE:

5 egg yolks, well beaten
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. milk
1 tbsp. butter

Boil until thick. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla, cool. Put on cooled cake. Add 7 minute frosting.
