CHEWY BROWNIES 
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
4 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate
1/2 teaspoon salt (use 1 tsp. if unsalted butter is used)
2 cups sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

In a microwave measuring cup, melt 1/2 cup butter and chocolate together on medium power of microwave, stopping to stir occasionally until completely melted. Set aside to cool.

In a mixing bowl, combine remaining 1/2 cup butter, sugar, and vanilla. Attach bowl and flat beater to mixer. Mix on low speed for half a minute. Increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes. Stop mixer and scrape down sides of bowl. On low speed, add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Stop and scrape bowl. Add cooled chocolate mixture. Mix for half a minute on low speed. Stop and scrape bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Mix for another half minute on low speed or until well blended. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Cool in pan on wire rock and cut into serving sized pieces.

Makes 36 brownies.

Servings: 36 brownies - 1 serving is equivalent to 1/36th of recipe.
