SHOO FLY PIE 
1 c. flour
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. shortening
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 c. corn syrup
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. hot water
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

Mix flour, sugar and shortening to form crumbs. Reserve 1/2 cup of the mixture for topping. In another bowl, mix egg, syrup and 3/4 cup water. Add to dry mixture. Dissolve soda in remaining hot water; add to the mixture. Pour into the unbaked pie crust, sprinkle with remaining crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
