LENTIL SOUP ALA TURQUE 
1 c. orange lentils

Soak overnight. Cook 15 minutes the next day.

3 tbsp. butter
2 chopped med. onions

Saute onions in butter. Add:

2 chopped tomatoes
1 lg. (12 oz.) can tomato juice
6 c. water

Combine all ingredients, except lentils. Bring to boil. Add lentils. Cook over medium heat for 50 minutes to 1 hour. Add 1 handful small noodles. Cook 10 minutes more. Mash 2 tablespoons flour with small amount of water. Add to mixture. Add 2 cloves garlic, crushed, 1/2 teaspoon salt, pepper, basil, dash Tabasco and 2 tablespoons vinegar. Serves 4.
