SOPAIPILLAS 
2 c. flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
2/3 c. warm water
Fat for frying
Honey or sugar & cinnamon

Stir dry ingredients in large bowl. Cut in shortening. Stir in water with a fork. Knead to a smooth ball. Divide dough in half; let stand 10 minutes. Roll each half into a 12 x 10 inch rectangle. Cut into 2 1/2 inch squares. Do not reroll or patch dough. Fry a few at a time in deep hot fat, 425 degrees, turning once. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with honey or cinnamon and sugar. Makes 40.
