BANANA NUT CAKE 
1 c. mashed bananas
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. chopped nuts

ICING:

1/3 c. soft butter
1/2 c. mashed bananas
Pinch of salt
3 c. sifted powdered sugar

CAKE: Mix sugar and shortening together. Add bananas. Mix well. Add eggs, mix well. Sift all dry ingredients together. Add flour mixture and buttermilk to sugar mixture. Stir in nuts and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

BANANA BUTTER ICING: Mix butter, salt and bananas together. Add sugar. A little milk may be added if too thick.
