OLD FASHIONED DATE NUT PUDDING 
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. chopped dates
1 cup chopped pecans
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, softened (no substitutes)
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups boiling water

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease or butter an 8 or 9-inch baking dish lightly.

In mixing bowl: Sift together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Add dates and nuts. Stir well to coat. Set aside.

In another mixing bowl: Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture (small amounts at a time until mixed thoroughly). Pour into buttered dish. Pour boiling water over all.

Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Serve topped with whipped cream.

When you go to the store and buy a package of dates, you're going to buy what they have. It will be the most common, regular sized package of dates that is on the shelf presented to you. Not the super excessive crazy sized package. And if you think the package is a "little bit too big" for some reason, use less. OMG.
