1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. apple sauce
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. whole bran cereal
1 c. raisins

Cream shortening and sugar. Blend in eggs and applesauce. Sift flour, soda, salt and spices. Add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in bran cereal and raisins.

Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 minutes. Makes about 3 1/2 dozen.
