1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. applesauce
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. raisins
1 c. nuts

Sift all dry ingredients except soda. Mix applesauce and soda. Blend sugar, shortening and egg until creamy. Add flour to shortening, alternating with applesauce. Fold in raisins and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls. Bake 15 to 20 minutes in 375 degree oven.
