1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 can applesauce
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour
1 tsp. nutmeg

Add raisins or chocolate chips. Cream shortening, sugar, and eggs. In separate bowl mix applesauce, soda and add to creamed ingredients and bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
