CONGO BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. shortening
1 (6 oz.) pkg. light brown sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 x 9 pan. In medium bowl combine flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. In large bowl cream butter and shortening. Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy.

Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. With mixer at low speed, mix in dry ingredients. Stir in pecans and chocolate. Spread evenly into pan. Bake 40 to 45 minutes or until toothpick in center comes out clean. Cool before cutting. Makes 48 bars, 125 calories each.
