TOFFEE SQUARES 
1 c. butter, softened to room temp.
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 tsp. vanilla
1 7/8 c. all-purpose flour
6 chocolate bars, no nuts (Hershey)
1 c. chopped toasted almonds or pecans

In mixing bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar until light- colored and fluffy. Add egg yolk and vanilla; gradually beat in flour until smooth and blended. (Dough will be thick.)

Spread evenly on ungreased 16 x 14 x 1 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes until golden brown and fluffy. Arrange unwrapped chocolate evenly over crust; let stand 5 minutes. Spread chocolate over crust and sprinkle on nuts. Cool and cut and enjoy. 40 squares.
