SIMPLE APPLE BUTTER | |
4 gallons apples, unpeeled, quartered 1 gallon corn syrup 6 lbs. sugar Put apples in heavy kettle or canner with a tight fitting lid. Pour the syrup and sugar over the apples and let them set overnight to form juice. Bring the mixture to a slow boil and cook it, covered, for 3 hours. Do not open the lid or stir the mixture during the entire cooking period. Put it through a strainer. CIDER APPLE BUTTER: 3 gallons schnitz (dried apple pieces) 1 gallon sweet cider 1/2 gallon corn syrup Follow directions above. |
