DATE PUDDING 
In large bowl stir together:

1 c. f lour
1 c. sugar
1 c. chopped dates
1 c. chopped walnuts
1/2 c. milk
1 egg slightly beaten
2 tbsp. butter, softened
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

Pour into greased 13 x 9 baking pan.

Make sauce: in saucepan, bring 2 cups water to boil, stir in 2 cups brown sugar and 2 tablespoons butter. Stir until sugar dissolves and butter melts. Pour over batter in pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes or until center of pudding is just set.

Serve plain or with whipped cream.
