HOMEMADE BROWN BREAD 
7 c. lukewarm water
7 tsp. dry yeast
1/2 c. brown sugar
10-12 c. flour
1 tbsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. wheat bran
1/2 c. cracked wheat
1/2 c. wheat germ
1 c. molasses

Dissolve yeast in water with sugar added. Add remaining ingredients, stirring while adding. Add just enough flour to make dough easy to handle. Knead for at least 10 minutes. Let rise until double. Punch down, let rise again. Shape into 6 loaves, grease tops of loaves. Let rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
